Dear Parent or Guardian: Time will be set aside in January to administer semester exams in all full-year courses. The semester exam should be cumulative and it is worth 10% of a student’s final grade for the year. Semester exams should be completed in elective classes Tuesday, January 17 and Wednesday, January 18, 2006. Foreign language will administer their semester exam in class on Thursday, January 19 and Friday, January 20, 2006. Starting Tuesday, January 24 through Friday, January 27, 2006 grade 9-12 students will only be in school when they are scheduled for an exam. School will be in regular session on Monday, January 23, 2006. The exam schedule is on the reverse side. If school is closed due to inclement weather all semester exams will be pushed back to the next day of school. Regents exams scheduled on a snow day will be cancelled. All other scheduled exams will be pushed back accordingly. No teacher should assign homework for his/her classes starting Friday, January 13 through and including Thursday, January 26, 2006. This will allow students the opportunity to prepare for their exams. Bus transportation will be provided to school for all students each morning. If 11th and 12th graders ride the buses they can go to the cafeteria or library while they wait for their exams to start. If 9th and 10th graders have an afternoon Regents exam they can go to the cafeteria or library to wait for the start of their afternoon exams. Buses will transport students home at 10:15 AM and 12:15 PM as well as the end of the regular school day. Thanks for your attention and anticipated cooperation. Sincerely, Frank Tolan, Principal Pawling High School
