Dear Community Members,

On behalf of the Board of Education I would like to request your participation in the Pawling School District Budget Communications Committee. Your participation in this committee would be greatly appreciated and provide the school community with the input necessary to communicate current budgetary issues.

Below you will find a description of this committee:

The Pawling Board of Education and the Superintendent of Schools are initiating a budget communications committee to discuss areas of concern of the public and components of the school district budget. This committee will seek community members from every facet of the Pawling Central School District to participate in a discussion. Elected officials, public service agencies, religious leaders and concerned community members are urged to participate. It is hoped that these participants will carry the information from the meetings to the community groups they represent; resulting in stronger bonds between the schools and the community. The format will be a round table conversation focused on pre-determined topics of discussion. Each meeting will provide opportunity for new questions to be asked and placed on the agenda of future meetings.

The first meeting of this group will be on November 28, 2006 and will be held in the Pawling Elementary School Multipurpose Room. If you would like to participate in this discussion please contact the school district office at 855- 4600, and allow us to prepare enough materials for all who wish to participate. Five meetings are scheduled to date:

* Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at the Pawling Elementary School Multipurpose Room, 7 pm
* Thursday, December 7, 2006 at the Pawling Middle School Cafeteria, 7 pm
* Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at the Pawling High School Auditorium, 7 pm
* Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at the Pawling Elementary School Multipurpose Room, 7 pm
* Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the Lathrop Center in Lakeside Park, 10 am.

All are welcome to participate in the conversation designed to increase information and understanding of the school budget process.

We hope that you will consider participating in this discussion and welcome your comments. Please contact the School District Office to RSVP your participation.

Sincerely,

Joseph Sciortino, Superintendent of Schools
