11.5     Direct District Clerk To Give Notice of the Annual Public Hearing on the Budget,

Annual Meeting, School District Election and Vote

                        NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a Public Hearing on the proposed 2007-2008 Budget for the                               Pawling Central School District shall be held in the Multipurpose Room at the Pawling Elementary               School, 7 Haight Street, Pawling, Dutchess and Putnam Counties, New York, on Monday, May 7,                2007 at 7:30 p.m., Prevailing Time.  The budget will be available for review for at least seven days             prior to the hearing at all School District building offices.

 

                        AND NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the election of a candidate to the Pawling Central                          School Board of Education and the budget vote will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 between                             the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., prevailing time, in the Multipurpose Room of the Pawling                               Elementary School, 7 Haight Street, Pawling, Dutchess and Putnam Counties, New York, at which               time the polls will be opened to vote by voting machine on the following items:

 

                        1.         To elect three (3) members of the Board of Education for a three (3) year term,                          commencing on July 1, 2007 and expiring on June 30, 2010.

 

                        To vote upon the adoption of the Budget of the School District for the 2007-2008 fiscal year and to                         authorize the requisite portion thereof to be raised by taxation on the taxable property of the School                         District.

 

                        To adopt the following propositions:

 

RENOVATION OF HIGH SCHOOL,

INCLUDING ROOF, FAÇADE, SIDEWALKS,

AND

GYMNASIUM SKYLIGHTS AND LIGHTING

 

                        RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Pawling Central School District, is hereby                           authorized to (1) renovate the High School, including Roof Replacement,  Repointing of Façade,                             Sidewalk Repairs and Gymnasium Skylights and Lighting Replacement at a cost not to exceed                                  $1,910,000, which is estimated to be the maximum cost thereof, (2) expend such sums for such                              purpose, (3) levy the tax necessary therefor, to be levied and collected in annual installments in                               such years and in such amounts as may be determined by the Board of Education, taking into                                  account state aid received, and (4) in anticipation of the collection of such tax, to issue bonds and                           notes of the District at one time or from time to time in the principal amount not to exceed                           $1,910,000, and to levy a tax to pay the interest on such obligations when due.

 

BUS PURCHASE PROPOSITION

 

                        RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Pawling Central School District, is hereby                           authorized to (1) acquire school buses and school vehicles at a cost not to exceed $275,000  which              is estimated to be the maximum cost thereof, (2) expend such sums for such purpose, (3) levy the                               tax necessary therefor, to be levied and collected in annual installments in such years and in such                                  amounts as may be determined by the Board of Education, taking into account state aid received,                            and (4) in anticipation of the collection of such tax, to issue bonds and notes of the District at one                           time or from time to time in the principal amount not to exceed $275, 000, and to levy a tax to pay              the interest on such obligations when due.

REMINDERS:           

                          All transportation requests for private schools and day care are due in

                          the Transportation Office by April 1st.  If you need a form, call the bus

                          garage (855-4640) or go on our website  pawlingschools.org.

                        There will be three open seats on the Board of Education this year (3 positions

for three (3) years).  If you would like to be a candidate, petitions are  available at Board    meetings and in the District Office.  The last day to file a nominating petition for election to the School Board is  April 16, 2007 at 5:00 p.m.   If you need additional information call the District Office 855-4600.

 

                        Also, there will be a Prospective School Board Members Workshop hosted by

                        Dutchess County School Boards Association on Saturday, April 14, 2007, 9:00 a.m.

                        to 11:00 a.m. at D.C. BOCES, 5 Boces Road, Poughkeepsie, NY.  There is no
